Just like a line in a book can create a certain tension when you read it, or how a smell can take you back into a memory from your past, songs can have that same effect, creating almost a visual sense in your head of different images. And from first hearing it, literally from the first notes, this song seems to almost float from every angle in the room. The overall sense is one of shadows being cast all around, the way the chords move forward and backward, caving to corners in the room, and then coming back at you from another side. And yet we tend to see the life shadows we cast based on the directions we face. Those directions can make us laugh or cry, make us give or take. Our shadows are with us all of our lives. To live in the shadows is to never be willing to walk toward a different light. So, are you leading your shadow, or is it leading you?

Look up, it’s different once you’ve been there
It’s not what you thought you’d find
Time’s up, and I’ve got no resolution
I’m not looking at the steps I leave behind

I’ve seen many mornings be gone before they’re due
